I filed my next front-page feature this week, which is scheduled to run in mid-July. It’s on the unique needs of older church members and how these concerns get lost when faith communities are focused on attracting younger members.
My favorite aspect of the reporting was learning about the ‘retirement rituals’ that are catching on at a few churches and synagogues across the country. Congregations come together to celebrate members who are moving on to a new stage in life and help them figure out who they want to be when they grow up.
I hope everyone enjoys the holiday weekend! I’m off to a water park and a family BBQ.
